Valparaiso is a city port of about 300,000 inhabitants in the Pacific coast of central Chile. Often referred as just "Valpo", which is situated about 120 km west of the capital, Santiago de Chile. The port is broadly known for Its special architecture between hills, with some funiculars, brightly colored houses, and beautiful sea views.
Why and when to visit Valparaiso?
During the last week of the year, Valparaiso has an annual carnival that everyone should experience at least once in their lives.
Each year the festival is centered around a different country, from where the players and artists are invited to come and represent their culture, theater, music and scenic arts. Most activities are free of charge and  take place outdoors. The celebration culminates in a fireworks  New Year show, and this is one of the five most beautiful in the world. Is recommend to prepare your trip with anticipation, because the city Triples its population in those days.
While in "VALPO" you can visit the "Mirador of  Cerro Artilleria",  with the panoramic views  the city of Viña del Mar,Reñaca, Con Con and many more ... You get through the funicular Artilleria, in operation since 1893.
On the first floor is the Mirador 21 de mayo ", and the restaurant "Calaufquen" there you will enjoy dishes from Chile,fresh seafood, for very reasonable prices. You may also find a crafts fair where you can buy  winter clothes (such as ponchos, scarves, socks, gloves, wool hats) with various models and prices. Figures and jewelry patterned from   "lapislazuli" (semi-precious blue stone found only in Chile and Afghanistan), you can also visit the Naval Museum, whose entrance is in the middle of 21 de Mayo.
